E-commerce is always something we like to experiment with in order to better understand how shoppers react – especially during the holiday season. How do you utilize social media marketing and SEO to cut through the holiday noise to reach potential shoppers?
We worked with a client that had a project involving a new site and CRM along with an e-commerce solution that needed to be built upon Shopify. While Shopify is a breeze – understanding how shoppers use it and what pitfalls they may encounter isn’t so simple. There are roughly 400,000 Shopify storefronts out there, so being on top is imperative. If we’re going to do something for a client that we haven’t done before, it’s our responsibility to do our own due diligence first.
So our team took a fun, one-day challenge to come up with a concept from logo development, art, and digital strategy on a simple premise:
1. Someone submits a photo of their family or friends.
2. They describe a weird, fun creature and how that creature interacts with the people in the photo.
3. Our team of illustrators makes that creature and interaction come to life.
Through this exercise, we were able to better understand what resonates – and what doesn’t – with the Shopify user experience.
And as a result of this quick experiment, we built a fun, new – and unique – product in the marketplace. More importantly, we were able to implement Shopify and better advise our client about leveraging it effectively to reach their shoppers.
